PAGASA: 'Dynamic System' Sweeping Across The Country

In a recent announcement, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has raised alarm over a dynamic weather system impacting various regions in the country. As of 4:00 AM on December 22, 2023, a comprehensive 24-hour weather forecast has been unveiled.

A Shear Line is currently affecting the eastern sections of Luzon, while the Northeast Monsoon is exerting its influence over the rest of Northern and Central Luzon.

Forecast Weather Conditions:

1. Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Kalayaan Islands:
- Condition: Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms
- Caused By: Shear Line / Trough of LPA
- qImpacts: Potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains

2. Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Rizal, and Laguna:
- Condition:Cloudy skies with rains
- Caused By: Northeast Monsoon
- Impacts: Potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains

3. Metro Manila, the rest of Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON:
- Condition: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains
- Caused By: Northeast Monsoon
- Impacts: No significant impact

4. Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Bicol Region:
- Condition:Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms
- Caused By: Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms
- Impacts: Potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions:

1. Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon:
- Wind Speed: Strong
- Wind Direction: Northeast
- Coastal Waters: Rough / (2.8 to 5.5 meters)

2. The rest of Luzon, and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao:
- Wind Speed: Moderate to Strong
- Wind Direction: East to Northeast
- Coastal Waters:Moderate to Rough / (1.2 to 3.0 meters)

3. The rest of the country:
- Wind Speed: Light to Moderate
- Wind Direction:East to Northeast
- Coastal Waters: Slight to Moderate / (0.6 to 2.5 meters)
