PAGCOR Announces Online Gaming Expansion

In an effort to accelerate the growth of the local gaming industry, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled ambitious plans to introduce "casinofilipino.com," an online gaming platform aiming to provide a realistic and immersive casino experience.
The announcement was made during the SiGMA Asia Summit 2023 in Pasay City on July 20, 2023.
Under the leadership of PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco, the online Casino Filipino is set to leverage virtual reality-based technology, allowing players to interact with digital versions of traditional casino games. With plans to launch by the first quarter of 2024, the platform aims to reach a global audience and diversify its customer base by tapping into virtual communities of avid gamers.
Tengco expressed optimism about the benefits the new online gaming venture will bring, including increased revenue, extended market reach, cost efficiency, and enhanced customer engagement. By embracing modern technologies, PAGCOR aims to adapt to the changing demands of the gaming industry and provide a more convenient gaming experience to its guests.
In addition to the online gaming initiative, PAGCOR plans to modernize its slot machine operations. The agency is in talks with different manufacturers to replace old machines with 3,500 brand-new units of Electronic Gaming Machines, ensuring customers have a renewed gaming experience.
The state-run gaming and regulatory firm also emphasized the significance of developing its Information Technology (IT) programs and systems, particularly the Casino Management System. These improvements are expected to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, real-time reporting and analytics, security, fraud prevention, financial management, and compliance.
During the SiGMA Asia Summit, Tengco proudly shared PAGCOR's revenue achievements in the first half of 2023. The total income from gaming operations reached an impressive P34.125 billion, with contributions to nation building increasing by 48.50% compared to the previous year. With the consistent upward trend in revenue, PAGCOR is on track to potentially surpass its pre-pandemic income by the end of 2023.
Tengco himself was honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Gaming award during the SIGMA Awards ceremony held on July 19, 2023, in recognition of his significant achievements in the gaming industry. PAGCOR President and COO Atty. Juanito Sañosa, Jr. received the award on his behalf.
