PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial has imposed sanctions on 10 players for participating in games outside the league without permission.

In a meeting with the players, Marcial issued fines ranging from P20,000 to P100,000.

Magnolia's Jio Jalalon received the heaviest penalty of P100,000 for his second offense, having already been fined and suspended by his ballclub.

Rain or Shine's Beau Belga and NLEX's JR Quinahan were both fined P50,000 each, plus an additional P20,000 each for their involvement in a fight-marred game in Catmon, Cebu, which Jalalon also participated in.

Belga and teammate Rey Nambatac were previously sanctioned by the ROS management.

Nambatac, Jhonard Clarito (ROS), Vic Manuel (SMB), Allyn Bulanadi (SMB), Alec Stockton (Converge), Barkley Ebona (Converge), and Arwin Santos (NorthPort) were all fined P50,000 each.

The only players who did not show up at the PBA Office in Quezon City were Nambatac and Santos, who excused themselves due to prior family obligations. However, the commissioner said that the two had talked to him earlier by phone.

During the meeting, Marcial reminded the players of their responsibilities to their mother ballclubs. Although everyone was apologetic for their actions, the commissioner warned that the penalties will be stiffer and doubled for repeat offenders.

The PBA has strict rules against players participating in games outside of the league without permission, and Commissioner Marcial has made it clear that these rules will be enforced.
