In a recent video message, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. revealed that 177 police officers in Metro Manila have been charged with drug-related offenses, including planting evidence, unlawful arrest, and excessive violence. The charges come as part of an intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign targeting law enforcers.

The President emphasized the importance of addressing misconduct within the police force, stating, "We cannot ignore the actions of our officials, and that's why 177 police officers have been charged with drug-related offenses, including planting of evidence, unlawful arrest, and excessive violence here in NCR."

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is actively pursuing 151,818 court cases from 2022 to 2023, resulting in the imprisonment of 121,582 violators involved in the drug trade.

President Marcos highlighted the administration's commitment to creating drug-free communities, stating, "These numbers represent a real improvement in our ongoing fight against the proliferation of illicit narcotics, making our communities safer."

The administration reported seizing approximately PhP10.41 billion worth of illegal drugs from January to December 2023 and clearing over 27,000 barangays of narcotics.
