President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19, as confirmed by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). The President is currently undergoing a mandatory five-day isolation, but reassured the Filipino people that he remains fit to carry out his duties and responsibilities.
In an official statement released on the PCO's Facebook page, it was mentioned that President Marcos will be actively participating in scheduled meetings via teleconference during his isolation period. The PCO also assured the public that updates on his health would be provided as they become available.
Despite the diagnosis, President Marcos took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of public health measures. He urged citizens to take precautions, including getting vaccinated and wearing face masks in crowded places, to safeguard their well-being.
Prior to testing positive for COVID-19, President Marcos played a leading role in the Family Day celebration of the Office of the President over the weekend. The event was attended by various government officials and employees.
