PBBM Inaugurates First Cancer Care Hospital In The Country

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reaped the benefits of his working visit to California with the official inauguration of the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH) on November 24, 2023.
The HCCH, an initiative that began during the President's attendance at the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in San Francisco, signals a significant stride in advancing cancer care in the Philippines.
The inauguration, led by President Marcos, took place along South Union Drive, Arca South Estate in Taguig City. In his address, the President underscored the pivotal role of HCCH in enhancing access to quality cancer care, emphasizing the synergy between public and private sectors aligning with the administration’s health initiatives.
President Marcos articulated, "The HCCH will revolutionize the cancer care services industry in the Philippines, reflecting our growing potential as a leading healthcare destination in Asia."
Highlighting the prevalence of cancer in the Philippines, President Marcos urged citizens to prioritize regular check-ups, emphasizing the availability of primary care services through initiatives like PhilHealth Konsulta.
He pointed to the 25 Specialty Centers in Cancer Care within select Department of Health hospitals, urging the public to maximize these resources for prevention and treatment.
Addressing the financial challenges associated with cancer treatments, President Marcos announced the creation of the Cancer Assistance Fund, offering support for diagnostics and laboratories not covered by PhilHealth. He called on public and private stakeholders to invest in healthcare facilities akin to HCCH, assuring government support.
The President expressed confidence in achieving a stronger and healthier Philippines through collaborative efforts. Prior to the HCCH inauguration, President Marcos witnessed a groundbreaking partnership between AC Health and Varian Medical Systems, reinforcing the commitment to efficient cancer care delivery.
The HCCH, Philippines’ first specialty oncology hospital, will function as a network of oncology clinics across Metro Manila, utilizing Varian’s cutting-edge cancer care technologies to make services more accessible to Filipinos.
