PBBM Pushes For LGU Access To Disaster Management Technologies

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the "Handa Pilipinas" Visayas Leg on Wednesday November 8, 2023 in Tacloban City, a region still recovering from the devastating impact of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that struck a decade ago.
This initiative is part of the government's commitment to showcasing various disaster risk reduction and management strategies.
During his speech, President Marcos emphasized the collaboration with stakeholders and partners, which enabled the launch of "Handa Pilipinas" Visayas Leg. He reflected on the calamity caused by Yolanda and the resilience displayed by the Filipino people during that crisis.
President Marcos stressed the significance of disaster risk reduction and management and highlighted the role of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in developing cutting-edge technologies for disaster prevention and response. Various technologies, such as mobile command posts, triaging trailer tents, and emergency food reserves, were featured during the event.

He urged the Filipino people to embrace and promote these new technologies and enhance public awareness to create a more proactive and well-equipped citizenry.
