PCG Stands In Protecting The West Philippine Sea, Reaffirms Commitment To Sovereignty
PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, CG Commodore Jay Tarriela
The Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, CG Commodore Jay Tarriela, affirmed support for the Commandant and the men and women of the PCG in their mission to safeguard the West Philippine Sea. Commodore Tarriela expressed determination to fulfill their duty in the region's Exclusive Economic Zone, emphasizing their resolve to do so independently, regardless of assistance.

Addressing concerns about the PCG's capabilities, Commodore Tarriela called for confidence in the organization's ability to carry out their duty effectively. He highlighted that the President had conveyed the nation's commitment to collaborate with all countries to establish a rules-based international order, underlining the Philippines' diplomatic approach to disputes.

Commodore Tarriela cautioned against framing the South China Sea disputes solely as a competition between nations, as it would compromise Philippine independence and disregard interests. Instead, he stressed the importance of recognizing the nation's determination to safeguard its Exclusive Economic Zone.

Despite potential limitations, Commodore Tarriela assured the Filipino people that the PCG remains resolute in patrolling and protecting their waters, utilizing the available assets. The statement concluded with a message: "Your PCG will remain steadfast in our duty to serve our flag and our people!"

The PCG's commitment to protecting the West Philippine Sea, as voiced by Commodore Jay Tarriela, resonates with the nation's aspirations for sovereignty and the responsible stewardship of its maritime resources.
