Manila, October 30, 2023 - The 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) concluded with an overall atmosphere of peace and order across the nation. The voting process, which ended at 3 pm nationwide, remained largely peaceful, ensuring the integrity of the elections. Despite some minor challenges, authorities successfully managed the situation, allowing the democratic process to proceed smoothly.

Based on an initial assessment provided by PBGen Chito Galvez Bersaluna, as of 3 pm when the voting hours concluded, the 2023 BSKE experienced relative tranquility throughout the country. While certain regions faced challenges, quick response and efficient collaboration between the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard ensured the timely resolution of issues, preserving the integrity of the elections.

During the voting hours, a few incidents were reported across different regions. These included two physical altercations in Region 9, two cases of physical injuries in Region 10, a malicious mischief report in Cordillera, harassment of deployed personnel in Region 12, a hacking incident in Region Calabarzon, illegal campaigning in the same region, a minor threat in Region 5, and an instance of vote buying and selling in NCRPO, particularly in Malabon City.

To address these incidents, the PNP swiftly deployed resources and personnel. This included the deployment of 797 TRAIN PNP Personnel to serve as members of the Electoral Board in PRO BAR and 71 in PRO COR. Additionally, augmentation forces were sent to Regions 1, 5, 7, Cordillera, and BARMM, totaling 7614 PNP personnel in PRO BARMM alone. Augmentation personnel were also dispatched to ABRA PPO (821), Libon Albay (574), and Negros Oriental (1802) to reinforce security measures.

Furthermore, the PNP deployed two V-150 armored vehicles from the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) based in Marawi City to Malabang, Lanao del Sur, to ensure the safety and security of the area.

The Special Task Force (STF) 2023 BSKE supervised the investigative efforts, employing a comprehensive approach to resolve issues promptly. The collaboration between the PNP, COMELEC, AFP, and the Philippine Coast Guard proved instrumental in maintaining the peace and integrity of the elections.

Despite minor disruptions, the swift and coordinated response from authorities ensured that the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections proceeded successfully, allowing citizens to exercise their right to vote freely and securely.
