Petro Gazz beats F2 Logistics to keep Semis slot alive

Petro Gazz displayed its power on Thursday as they took down F2 Logistics with a 25-23, 25-13, 25-23 victory in the Premier Volleyball League All Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig. The win strengthens their semi final chances, tying them with Chery Tiggo at fourth place with a record of 3-2 while giving F2 Logistics their second loss in six games.
The Angels had a tough first set, but they managed to come from behind to secure a 25-23 win. They continued their momentum in the second set, dominating F2 Logistics with a 25-13 victory. However, the Cargo Movers managed to stay in the game and led 23-22 in the third set. With their backs against the wall, the Angels managed to tie the game at 23 and then went on to win the set and the match.
Grethcel Soltones was instrumental in the victory, delivering back-to-back key hits to give the Angels the match point. MJ Phillips also played a crucial role, scoring on a kill block off Elaine Kasilag’s attack to help anchor the team’s victory.
Petro Gazz coach Oliver Almadro praised his team for their heart and hustle, telling them to believe in themselves. The team responded with Soltones stepping up and tying the score with a clever hit, followed by a through-the-block hit through two defenders. Phillips was named the game’s top scorer with 13 points, including two blocks and two aces, while Jonah Sabete also fired 13 points. Aiza Pontillas and Soltones finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Myla Pablo started strong for F2 Logistics, but she was held to just six points after being benched in the third set. Kim Dy led the Cargo Movers with 14 points, while Aby Marano and Kasilag added six-point outputs.
Petro Gazz will face the Army Lady Troopers and the Akari Chargers in their next two games, while F2 Logistics will look to bounce back against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
