Philippine Army Personnel Identified as Last Victim in Tragic Basilan ship Incident

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Basilan have confirmed that the cadaver recovered in the waters off Barangay Sulutan Matangal, Hadji Mohammad Adjul, on April 11, 2023, was the last missing passenger of MV Lady Mary Joy 3. The passenger was identified as Private First Class (PFC) Marion Malda, one of the Philippine Army personnel on board.
MV Lady Mary Joy 3, a ferry that was en route from Zamboanga City to Jolo Sulu, caught fire on March 29, 2023, leaving 33 people dead and several others injured. The incident sent shockwaves across the nation, as families anxiously awaited news about their missing loved ones.
With the identification of PFC Marion Malda's body, the PCG reported that out of the 249 passengers on board MV Lady Mary Joy 3, 216 survived the incident, while 33 lost their lives due to the fire.
