Phoenix Fuel Masters overcame the early ejection of import Du'Vaughn Maxwell to secure a 125-100 victory over Terrafirma in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Maxwell was ejected at the 6:32 mark of the third quarter after being penalized with a flagrant foul penalty one landing spot infraction. This came after an earlier technical foul. Despite the setback, the Fuel Masters locals stepped up, with Jason Perkins leading with 14 points, followed by comebacking Javee Mocon with 13, Encho Serrano with 12, RR Garcia with 11, and Sean Manganti with 10.

Maxwell finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, leading the Fuel Masters to a 23-point lead before getting ejected. Although his performance was incomplete, he bounced back from his meager 11-point showing in Phoenix's loss to Magnolia in their last game.

Terrafirma's Juami Tiongson led the team with 27 points, while reinforcement Jordan Williams struggled with only 14 points, contributing to their third straight setback.

The victory allowed the Fuel Masters to arrest a two-game skid and improve their overall record to 2-5, tying with the skidding Dyip. The return of Mocon to the game after undergoing knee surgery to remove bone spurs further excites the Fuel Masters as they make a push for the playoffs.

Overall, Phoenix's balanced attack proved to be too much for Terrafirma, as they finished the game with 11 players scoring. They will look to build on this momentum as they face Converge FiberX in their next game.
