PNP And DOJ Team Up For Faster Collaboration

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has successfully concluded the DOJ-PNP High-Level Symposium, a significant collaborative effort between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the PNP. The symposium, held at Manila Diamond Hotel, aimed to foster stronger coordination and cooperation between the two agencies in the pursuit of justice and the maintenance of peace and order in the nation.

The 1-day symposium, which took place early in the morning, brought together key stakeholders including Regional Directors of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), District Directors, Station Commanders, Police Community Precinct Chiefs, Investigation Unit Chiefs, heads of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), and Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM). The event served as the launch of the first phase of the implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the DOJ and the Philippine National Police on April 13, 2023.

This significant milestone sets the stage for comprehensive training and education activities for PNP law enforcement officers throughout 2023 and 2024, in accordance with Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11936, also known as the "FY 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA). The symposium aimed to equip PNP officers with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively combat crime and ensure justice prevails.

While Police General Benjamin C Acorda Jr, the PNP Chief, was unable to attend the symposium, his vision and message were delivered by The Chief Directorial Staff, PMGen Emmanuel B Peralta. In his speech, PNP Chief Acorda stressed the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing, and synergy between the DOJ and PNP.

He highlighted the evolving challenges faced by law enforcement agencies and the significance of adapting to emerging technologies to combat criminal activities while upholding the principles of justice and respect for human rights.

Acknowledging the DOJ's unwavering commitment to the pursuit of justice, PNP Chief Acorda expressed his gratitude for their continuous support in strengthening the PNP's capabilities. He emphasized the importance of interagency cooperation and urged all participants to forge stronger ties, streamline processes, and enhance the sharing of resources and expertise.

PNP Chief Acorda encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to lay the foundation for a more efficient and effective law enforcement system.

The symposium concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, a shared commitment to excellence, and a clear roadmap for future collaboration between the DOJ and PNP. The insights gained from this event are expected to serve as a catalyst for positive change and advancement in the Philippine justice system and law enforcement practices.
