In a recent operation led by Police Brig. Gen. Kenneth Lucas of the PNP-Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO), three firearms belonging to Wilfredo Gonzales, the man seen in a viral video assaulting a cyclist and brandishing a firearm in Quezon City on August 8, have been seized.

In response to the incident, Gonzales's License To Own and Possess Firearm, Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence, and Firearm Registration have been promptly suspended. The licenses for his firearms were also revoked.

This action took effect on August 28, 2023.

"We executed a firearms confiscation this morning involving Mr. Gonzales, resulting in the retrieval of 4 firearms – 3 .45 caliber pistols and 1 9mm Pistol," stated Police Brig. Gen. Kenneth Lucas.

Currently, the PNP-FEO is in possession of the confiscated firearms, while one firearm remains with the QCPD Police as part of their ongoing investigation. The incident involving Wilfredo Gonzales and the cyclist has been resolved, and the firearm will subsequently be handed over to the PNP-FEO.

Addressing the public, Police Brig. Gen. Kenneth Lucas emphasized, "Today (August 28 2023) marks the commencement of the Gun Ban, effective until November 29th of this year."

"For lawful firearm possession outside your residence during this period, you must apply for a gun ban exemption from COMELEC. The application process can be completed online through their website, where you'll find step-by-step instructions. With the exemption granted, you are permitted to carry your firearms within the confines of the law and transport them to and from shooting ranges and your respective residences."
