PNP Mourns Death Of Bataan Cop In Buy-Bust Operation
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is in a state of mourning following the death of Police Corporal Darnel Alfonso, who lost his life during a buy-bust operation in Bataan on May 23.

Alfonso, a member of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Bataan Police Provincial Office, succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during the operation in Purok 8, Barangay Gen. Lim, Orion, Bataan.

The operation, which aimed to combat violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), took place at 1:00 AM on Tuesday.

Alfonso and his team were attacked by suspect Mark Anthony Capacia and another unidentified assailant during the operation.

Two other members of the arresting team, Police Major Dennis Duran, Officer-in-Charge of PIU, Bataan PPO, and PIU operative PSSG Glenn Salac, also sustained injuries during the encounter.

Both Capacia and the other unidentified suspect were fatally wounded.

The PNP has assured Alfonso's orphaned family of the immediate release of all financial assistance and benefits due to them.

Additionally, the Police Regional Office 3 has been directed to provide comprehensive medical care to the two wounded personnel, ensuring their full recovery.
