The Philippine National Police (PNP) has proven its mettle as a well-functioning and efficient police force, with recent statistics indicating significant progress in crime reduction and anti-drug operations. From January 1 to June 9, 2023, the country witnessed a notable decrease of almost 10% in index crimes or focus crimes. Comparing this period to the same timeframe last year, where 18,270 crimes were recorded, the number has dropped to 16,492, showcasing the PNP's commitment to ensuring public safety.

In the relentless campaign against illegal drugs, the PNP has conducted a staggering 19,464 police operations, leading to the arrest of 25,641 violators. These operations have also resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of nearly 6.2 billion pesos. The relentless efforts of the PNP reflect their dedication to eradicating the drug menace and protecting the welfare of the Filipino people.

The PNP's unwavering commitment to upholding the law is evident in their successful apprehension of wanted individuals. A total of 31,956 arrested wanted persons have been brought to justice, while an additional 195 persons voluntarily surrendered. Furthermore, the PNP's campaign against loose firearms has yielded impressive results, with 3,904 individuals apprehended and 12,373 firearms recovered, surrendered, or confiscated for violating the provisions of Republic Act 10591. In support of this campaign, the PNP has filed 2,204 cases in court, and 7,354 firearms have been turned in to the PNP for safekeeping.

These remarkable figures serve as a testament to the effectiveness and efficiency of the PNP's anti-crime strategies and programs. By diligently carrying out their duties, the PNP continues to provide a safe environment for all Filipinos and foster a conducive atmosphere for the business sector, thereby ensuring a healthy economic climate.

While acknowledging that a small number of personnel have violated policies and laws, the PNP remains resolute in its stance against such wrongdoings. The organization has taken decisive action against those found guilty, ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions. During the same period, a total of 836 personnel were dismissed, while 1,703 were suspended from the service. These disciplinary actions exemplify the PNP's commitment to maintaining a high standard of integrity and professionalism within its ranks, and its determination to weed out individuals who are unfit for service.

The PNP's efforts and accomplishments have not gone unnoticed by the public. In a recent survey conducted by OCTA research, 8 out of 10 Filipinos expressed their trust and confidence in the PNP, resulting in an impressive 80% trust and performance rating nationwide. This recognition serves as a testament to the hard work and sacrifices made by every dedicated member of the police force, from the beat patrol officers ensuring public safety to the officers tirelessly investigating heinous crimes and providing assistance to affected families during natural calamities.
