The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) have joined forces to strengthen the campaign against illegal gambling activities nationwide through the implementation of "one strike and no-take policy."
Under the leadership of PNP Chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr., the police force is mobilizing its established regional, provincial, and city anti-illegal gambling special operations task groups to intensify the implementation of the provisions outlined in PNP MC NO. 2017-022, aptly named "PNP Anti-Illegal Gambling Campaign Plan: Operation High Roller."
These specialized units will leverage their expertise to gather intelligence, conduct thorough investigations, and execute strategic interventions, strengthening the nation's fight against illegal gambling.
"We will not tolerate the presence of illegal gambling activities that exploit the most vulnerable members of our society. Together with the PCSO, we will deploy all necessary resources and implement stringent measures to eradicate this menace," Acorda said.
"The one-strike and no-take policy embodies a zero-tolerance approach, where any negligence or inaction will be met with swift consequences. With this firm stance, the PNP aims to eliminate leniency in eradicating the illegal gambling menace," he added.
Meanwhile, PCSO General Manager (GM) Mel Robles emphasized that illegal gambling operations significantly impact the revenue generated by the PCSO, depriving underprivileged Filipino citizens of essential healthcare and other benefits.
Robles urged the public to participate only in PCSO-sanctioned games, such as Lotto and small-town lottery, emphasizing that doing so would contribute to funding the PCSO's welfare programs while providing individuals with the opportunity to win prizes.
