In a Facebook Reels video posted on Philippine National Police Chief General Benjamin Acorda's page, he expressed his views on the importance of respect and authority within the police force.
“Ang gusto kapag Nakatayo ang pulis hindi kinakatakutan kundi nirerespeto , and among officers dapat may respeto sa isa’t isa kapwa magka rango, superior, subordinate, dapat there should be that respect para tayo naman yung mga tao ire-respeto tayo. Hindi naman kailangan tayo mag sigaw. What is important is ma-establish yung authority . When you know what you are doing ay talagang ire-respeto ka , I can say an example sa other countries yung mga pulis nag se-serve pero maramdaman mo yung authority andun yung respeto. Gusto ko ganyan ang magiging parang dating ng ating mga kapulisan sa mamamayan”
This statement highlights PGen Benjamin Accorda Jr.'s desire for the police to be respected by the public through professionalism, knowledge, and the establishment of authority, rather than relying on fear or force. He emphasizes the importance of respect among officers as well, regardless of their ranks, to create a cohesive and respected police force.
