President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Calls On PNP To Uphold Ethics And Zero-Tolerance Policy

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered a stern message to the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted star rank officers, urging them to combat corruption and human rights abuses within the police force.

The President emphasized his administration's unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against such misconduct.

Addressing the assembled officers, President Marcos stressed their vital role in earning the trust of the Filipino people and maintaining the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

He declared, "I must emphasize our zero-tolerance policy for corruption and human rights abuses within the PNP. We will exact only the highest standards from our police force, and from here, we will surely witness the transformation of our country into the New Philippines that we all aspire for."

President Marcos did not mince words, warning, "Mark my words: There will be no room for leniency for those who engage in acts that tarnish the reputation of our police and jeopardize the safety of our people."

He further urged the newly promoted officers to uphold their integrity at all times, even in the face of challenges within the police institution. The President expected them to lead by example, demonstrating competence, integrity, and responsibility in their duties.

He also emphasized their role in ensuring that every officer and personnel under their command adheres to the highest standards and principles.

President Marcos expressed the Filipino people's expectations for the PNP officials to develop a more capable, professional, and community-responsive police force. He encouraged them to forge stronger partnerships with local communities to enhance peace and security.
"As you embark on your new roles in the Philippine National Police, I challenge you to be agents of positive change, the change that we want to establish in our country," he urged the officials.

The President reassured the officers and their families of the government's full support for their welfare and overall well-being as they work to secure the nation.

The 57 newly-promoted PNP officials include four Police Lieutenant Generals, 10 Police Major Generals, and 43 Police Brigadier Generals. Notable among them are Police Lt. Generals Rhodel Sermonia, Acting Deputy Chief for Administration; Michael John Dubria, Acting Deputy Chief for Operations; Rhoderick Armamento, Commander of the Area Police Command-Southern Luzon; and Filmore Escobal, Commander of the Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao.

The event was attended by PNP Chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., and Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs Secretary Roman Felix, underlining the government's strong commitment to police reform and accountability.
