President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally reached out to the grieving widow of a 42-year-old Filipino victim who was tragically killed on Saturday in the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

During a telephone call on Wednesday October 11, 2023 evening, President Marcos expressed his condolences and sympathies, assuring the bereaved wife that the Philippine government stands by her side during this difficult time.

The President assured the widow that the government would provide all necessary assistance and ensure a decent burial for her husband once the Israel-Hamas situation subsides.

President Marcos has already directed Philippine Ambassador to Israel, Pedro “Junie” Laylo Jr., to closely coordinate with the families of the victims and provide them with all necessary assistance during these challenging times.

The President said that the Philippines is collaborating closely with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and the Filipino community in the war-torn country.

He also stated that the Philippine government would initiate immediate repatriation efforts for affected Filipinos in Israel once the Israeli government opens its "humanitarian corridors."
