President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was optimistic about achieving the target price of PhP20 per kilogram of rice in the Philippines. He emphasized that this goal could be realized once the agriculture sector stabilizes and production costs normalize in the country.

"May chance lagi 'yan," President Marcos affirmed when questioned by the media about the feasibility of the PhP20.00 per kilogram of rice.

President Marcos acknowledged that external factors beyond the Philippines are directly influencing the prices of essential commodities, leading both the government and the market to adapt. However, he stressed that once everything normalizes, it would be easier for the government to make necessary adjustments.

The President underlined the government's commitment to ensuring that staple food prices remain affordable for the Filipino people, especially those facing financial challenges. He also mentioned that measures are in place to guarantee fair purchasing prices for farmers, including recent adjustments made by the National Food Authority (NFA) Council.

Chaired by President Marcos, the NFA Council recently approved a new price range for "wet palay" from PhP16.00 to PhP19.00, and for "dry palay," it was set at PhP19.00, down from PhP23.00.
