Pura Luka Vega, a popular drag performer, found herself embroiled in a heated controversy after a blasphemous video featuring her went viral. In response to the backlash, Vega took to Twitter to share her thoughts, defending her performance and expressing her frustration at being judged for her artistic expression.

"I understand that people call my performance blasphemous, offensive, or regrettable," Vega wrote on her Twitter account. "However, they shouldn't tell me how I practice my faith or how I do my drag. That performance was not for you to begin with. It is my experience and my expression of having been denied my rights."

The video in question depicted individuals singing a remixed version of The Lord's Prayer, a sacred prayer for millions of Christians worldwide. The content of the video has generated widespread outrage and condemnation from religious communities and public figures alike.

Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri condemned the blasphemous video in the strongest possible terms. In a statement, Zubiri expressed his deep concern regarding the misuse and abuse of freedom of expression, which he believed had crossed into criminal territory.

"This act offends the sensibilities of our Christian brothers and sisters, deeply demeans the faith of millions of Filipinos, and dangerously scales the boundaries of protected speech and expression," Zubiri stated. He further highlighted the possibility of filing criminal charges under Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, which criminalizes acts that offend any race or religion through obscene or indecent plays, scenes, acts, or shows.

Zubiri emphasized the need for authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly, urging swift action to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. He underlined that such behavior should not only be condemned by Christians but by people of all religions, as it undermines the practice of faith and fosters a disrespectful environment for religious beliefs.

"The Lord's Prayer is one of our most solemn prayers during the Holy Eucharist, and to take it out of this context of worship and use it as material for a comedy bar is highly insensitive," Zubiri passionately expressed. He called for mutual respect among individuals of diverse beliefs, promoting a society that upholds the values of tolerance and understanding.
