In a bold move echoing a growing sentiment of cultural respect and solidarity, both Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Laguna provinces have officially added their names to the list of regions declaring drag queen persona Pura Luka Vega as "persona non grata."

The unanimous decision to designate Amadeus Fernando Pagente, also known as Pura Luka Vega, as persona non grata was reached during the 50th Regular Session of the 20th City Council in CDO. The session, which was presided over by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, saw Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya take the lead in proposing the resolution against the drag queen.

Councilor Nacaya, the author of the resolution, vehemently voiced concerns over what he referred to as "sacrilegious acts" committed by Mr. Pagente. The resolution aims to underscore the significance of upholding cultural values and respecting religious beliefs within the city.

This decision follows suit with a similar proclamation by the Laguna Provincial Council. A resolution unanimously passed by the council has designated Mr. Amadeus Fernando Pagente, a.k.a. Pura Luka Vega, as persona non grata in the province of Laguna. Vice Governor Karen Agapay, alongside all members of the Provincial Council, demonstrated unity in their commitment to preserving the integrity of Laguna's cultural heritage.

In a statement released by the Laguna Provincial Council, Vice Governor Agapay emphasized, "As leaders of our province, it is our duty to uphold the values of respect and dignity towards our fellow individuals. We should not tolerate any attacks or disrespect towards our cultures and beliefs." The declaration of "persona non grata" serves as a stern reminder that celebrity status does not grant exemption from adhering to societal norms or offending cherished traditions.
