The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Nicolas D. Torre III, announced today the successful arrest of another suspect in the tragic Abiad Family shooting incident that took place on June 29, 2023. The suspect has been identified as Jomari Dela Cruz, a 24-year-old resident of Muntinlupa City.

Dela Cruz was apprehended at approximately 4:30 PM on July 13, 2023, at the Solid North Transit Bus Terminal situated on EDSA, Cubao, Quezon City. The arrest was made possible through the diligent efforts of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), led by PMAJ Don Don Llapitan. Acting on information received from a confidential informant, the CIDU conducted a follow-up operation, anticipating Dela Cruz's arrival at the bus terminal after hiding in Pangasinan.

After conducting thorough surveillance in the area, authorities spotted Dela Cruz walking in front of the bus terminal precisely at the predicted time. Police operatives promptly approached him, introduced themselves, and placed him under arrest. Upon searching Dela Cruz, law enforcement recovered a caliber 9mm pistol, eight live rounds of ammunition, and a magazine concealed in his gray sling bag.

Currently, Dela Cruz is under the custody of the CIDU, along with Almario, the gunman arrested on July 7, 2023, in connection with the same shooting incident. Authorities are now preparing charges against Dela Cruz for violation of R.A. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, which will be filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
A continuous manhunt operation is underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the Abiad Family shooting. The QCPD is working tirelessly to ensure that all individuals responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.

"I commend the QCPD for their relentless efforts in apprehending this suspect. We will ensure that he will be held accountable for the charges filed against him," stated PBGEN Nicolas D. Torre III.
