House Deputy Minority Leader and Alliance of Concerend Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro has officially filed a Petition for Review today, February 5, 2024, at 2:24 PM, with the Department of Justice (DOJ) in response to the dismissal of her grave threats complaint against former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Accompanied by her legal team, which includes attorneys Rico V. Domingo, Tony M. La Viña, and Artemio Calumpong from the Movement Against Disinformation, Castro seeks to overturn the resolution issued by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City on January 9, 2024.
The Petition, filed under the Department of Justice Circular No. 70 (2000 NPS Rule on Appeal) in conjunction with DOJ Circular No. 027 (2022 NPS Rule on Appeal), aims to annul and set aside the resolution that cited "want of sufficient evidence" as the grounds for dismissing the criminal complaint against the former president.
Castro contends that the evidence presented supports her claims of grave threats, and she is determined to pursue a fair resolution through the legal process.
