In the aftermath of the Cessna 340A crash that claimed the lives of four individuals in the vicinity of the Mayon Volcano in the Philippines, rescue and retrieval operations are still ongoing, with dispatched mountaineers and an assault team working tirelessly to recover the bodies of the victims.

The team has established a base camp close to the crash site and is working to set up anchor points and safety lines to ensure the safe and efficient relay of the bodies. However, the team is also moving cautiously due to the presence of a number of hazards in the area, including loose soil, rock falls, and the possibility of a phreatic eruption, as Mayon is currently under Alert Level 2.

Despite the challenges, responders have been able to recover belongings of the four victims, which were reportedly scattered across the area. These materials will be turned over to the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) for further investigation.

The retrieval operations have been ongoing since the crash occurred, with multiple agencies working together to ensure the safe and efficient recovery of the victims. The local government has expressed its gratitude to all those involved in the efforts, particularly the mountaineers and assault team who have been working tirelessly to retrieve the bodies despite the present hazards.
