In a daring effort to reach the site of the tragic Cessna 340A plane crash last Saturday February 18, 2023, a team of 28 highly trained responders set out at the break of dawn this morning.

The team includes six members of the Bureau of Fire Protection - Special Rescue Force (BFP-SRF), nine experienced mountaineers, eight personnel from the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), three skilled rescue workers from the Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) Philippines, and two local guides.

Camalig, Albay Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin Baldo said the team began their trek early this morning, braving the treacherous terrain and inclement weather conditions to reach the crash site as quickly as possible. “Their mission is to search for any survivors and recover the bodies of those who perished in the crash,” he said.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
