In an impressive display of strength and determination, Vanessa Sarno, a Filipina weightlifter, secured the 47th gold medal for Team Philippines at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Competing in the Women's 71kg Weightlifting category, Sarno dominated the competition, lifting a total of 265kg to claim the top spot on the podium. Her closest rival, Thai weightlifter Juthamas Siri, trailed behind with a total lift of 245kg.
Sarno's victory not only adds to the Philippines' medal tally at the ongoing SEAGames2023 but also cements her status as one of the country's top athletes.
