SEA Games Officially Closes

The vibrant city of Phnom Penh was alive with excitement as the official closing ceremony of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games took place at the magnificent Morodok Techo National Stadium.

The event, which commenced on May 3rd, 2023, witnessed athletes from eleven Southeast Asian nations competing fiercely across various sporting disciplines.

The 32nd SEA Games came to a spectacular end, leaving behind a legacy of sportsmanship, dedication, and extraordinary athletic performances. With a total of 359 medals, Vietnam emerged as the overall champion of the games, securing the top position in the medal standings with 136 gold, 105 silver, and 118 bronze medals.

Following Vietnam's success, Thailand secured the second position, clinching a total of 312 medals, including 108 gold, 96 silver, and 108 bronze medals. Indonesia showcased commendable performance throughout the games, earning a total of 276 medals (87 gold, 80 silver, and 109 bronze), placing them in the third position

The host nation, Cambodia, displayed tremendous prowess, garnering a total of 282 medals, securing the fourth position in the medal standings. Cambodian athletes, led by the outstanding Vovinam athlete Pal Chhor Raksmy, brought immense pride to their country, winning 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals. The nation cheered for their remarkable achievements as they stood tall on the medal podium.

Singapore's national swimmer, Ting Wen Quah, also shone brightly at the 32nd SEA Games, amassing an impressive haul of 6 gold and 2 silver medals, contributing significantly to Singapore's total medal count of 158 (51 gold, 43 silver, and 64 bronze). Malaysia secured the seventh position with 175 medals, including 34 gold, 45 silver, and 96 bronze medals.

Other participating countries, including the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, and Timor Leste, showcased their sporting prowess, leaving a lasting impression on the spectators and creating an atmosphere of unity and camaraderie throughout the games.

The closing ceremony was a fitting tribute to the athletes who dedicated themselves to their respective sports, inspiring a new generation of athletes across the region. It was a night filled with mesmerizing performances, music, and dance, celebrating the achievements and spirit of the SEA Games.
