The Senate security group, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, handed over the alleged Socorro cult leader, Jey Rence Quilario, known as Senyor Agila, along with Socorro Bayanihan Services Incorporated (SBSI) vice president Mamerto Galanida and group leaders Karen Sanico Jr and Janeth Ajoc, and several other SBSI members to the police and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation.
This follows the issuance of an arrest warrant by a regional trial court in Dapa, Surigao del Norte, citing violations of Republic Act No. 9208, also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003. No bail was recommended for the accused.
The arrest operation unfolded shortly after the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, led by Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, concluded an extensive inquiry into the allegations of systematic rape, sexual abuse, human trafficking, forced labor, and child marriage that were reportedly perpetrated by members of SBSI.
