Senator Alan Peter "Compañero" Cayetano's office, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), recently undertook an initiative to provide much-needed assistance to hundreds of individuals in crisis in the Bicol region.

The distribution of aid under the DSWD's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis (AICS) program took place on June 12, 14, and 16, 2023, benefiting a total of 265 Bicolanos.
The first leg of the initiative commenced in Sorsogon City, where 88 individuals received aid from Cayetano's office. The program then moved to Legazpi, Albay, on June 14, accommodating 75 Bicolanos.

The local government, led by Mayor Geraldine Rosal and Councilor Joseph Philip Lee, provided valuable coordination and support for the initiative. Finally, the team extended assistance to 102 individuals in crisis in Camarines Sur.

Among the beneficiaries was Romeo Valenzuela of Donsol City of the Living God Nations Assembly Inc., who expressed his gratitude to Senator Cayetano for extending government support to individuals like them who had felt neglected, particularly during the peak of the pandemic. Valenzuela stated, "'Yung mga [kasamahan namin] na left behind during the time ng pandemic na hindi natulungan ng gobyerno ay nagkaroon ngayon ng oportunidad," emphasizing the significance of the aid they received.

Senator Cayetano's office has been actively collaborating with various government agencies, including the DSWD and the Department of Labor and Employment, as well as local government units and organizations. This collaborative approach aims to provide comprehensive assistance to different sectors across the country, especially those who continue to grapple with the adverse effects of the ongoing pandemic.
