Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano have provided much-needed aid to more than a thousand Boholanos facing crisis situations. Their recent three-day visit to the province brought hope and relief to those struggling with various hardships.

The generosity of the Cayetano siblings was evident as they worked alongside the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to distribute financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program. The AICS program aims to support Filipinos experiencing crises such as natural calamities, the loss of a family member, or financial setbacks.

The visit commenced on July 17 in the Municipality of Alburquerque, where the team extended help to the members of the Alburquerque Calamay Makers Association. This organization, led by Cecilia Busano, received support as beneficiaries of Senator Alan's Presyo-Trabaho-Kita/Kaayusan (PTK) program. Emelinda Salupan Hontemara, one of the members, expressed her gratitude, stating that the assistance was a much-needed lifeline for her family's livelihood, especially during the challenging times brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and Typhoon Odette.

On the second day of their visit, July 18, the Cayetanos' teams reached out to 1,000 barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, women, and parents of student-athletes in coordination with Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap and Barangay Poblacion III Chairman Felix Berto Remolador. The financial aid provided a glimmer of hope for these individuals and families, many of whom were facing difficulties in meeting their daily needs.

The third day, July 19, saw the teams partnering with Mayor Yap once again to extend assistance to 400 tricycle drivers and market traders from various associations in the region. The support offered by the Cayetanos helped alleviate the burdens faced by these hardworking individuals, enabling them to provide for their families and improve their livelihoods.

Among the grateful beneficiaries was Lucila Bonsay, a fish vendor from Baclayon, who expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the aid, which she intends to use to buy essential food items for her family. Her sentiments resonated with others in Bohol, all of whom thanked the Cayetanos for their benevolence and the positive impact on their lives.

The story of Hermeza Furnis, a barangay health worker who found solace in her role after facing personal loss, exemplifies the significant impact of the Cayetanos' assistance. The kind-hearted senators not only supported critical programs like healthcare but also extended their generosity by providing extra income to the barangay health workers, further uplifting their spirits and dedication to their vital roles in the community.

Through their humanitarian efforts, Senators Alan and Pia Cayetano have proven that genuine compassion and support can make a significant difference in the lives of those facing challenging circumstances. Their unwavering commitment to helping the people of Bohol has touched the hearts of many, leaving a positive legacy of kindness and hope.
