Metro Manila Council (MMC) President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes, and Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Jay Art Tugade recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement a single ticketing system in Metro Manila.
This milestone development comes after all 17 Mayors of the National Capital Region approved the Metro Manila Traffic Code, which defines the 20 most common traffic violations and introduces digital platforms for the payment of penalties.
The signing ceremony was held at the MMC Headquarters, attended by senior government officials including Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Atty. Hubert Guevara and former MMDA Chairman and now Senator Francis Tolentino. The MOA signifies the collaborative efforts of the MMC, MMDA, and LTO to address traffic congestion and improve traffic management in the bustling metropolitan region.
Under the single ticketing system, traffic violators will be issued a unified citation ticket for common traffic offenses, such as illegal parking, obstruction, and disregarding traffic signs. The ticket will include details of the violation, the corresponding penalty, and information on how to settle the fine through digital payment platforms.
The implementation of the single ticketing system is expected to streamline traffic enforcement and promote better compliance with traffic rules in Metro Manila. It will also provide a more convenient and transparent process for settling traffic penalties through digital payment platforms. The MOA signing signifies a united effort among the MMC, MMDA, and LTO to improve traffic management and promote safer roads in the National Capital Region.
