House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez engaged in discussions with Guam Visitors Bureau President and CEO, Carl Tommy Cruz Gutierrez, regarding a proposal to include the Republic of the Philippines in the United States Department of Homeland Security's Guam-CNMI visa waiver program. The meeting took place on Tuesday (August 22, 2023) afternoon at the Speaker's office in the House of Representatives.
Gutierrez, a former Governor of Guam, led a courtesy call on Speaker Romualdez to explore the possibility of extending visa waivers to Filipino citizens traveling to Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).
The discussions centered around House Resolution No. 332, a proposition that urges the Department of Foreign Affairs to initiate a coordinated effort in requesting the President of the United States of America to incorporate the Philippines into the visa waiver program.
