The Commission on Elections (Comelec) received House Resolution No. 154, which has led to the cancellation of the special election in the 3rd Legislative District of Negros Oriental.

The resolution effectively revokes House Resolution No. 136, which called for the conduct of the special election.

The special elections was supposed to fill the vacant post of expelled Negros Oriental 3rd district Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr.

Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia emphasized that the COMELEC will implement the mandate of the House of Representatives in this matter, as membership questions fall under the jurisdiction of the House.

Consequently, the Regional Director and Election Officers have been directed to inform all concerned parties that the election, previously scheduled for December 9, will not proceed.
