In Sudan, the devastating effects of the fighting that broke out 100 days ago continue to take a heavy toll, with children being the most vulnerable and affected group.

According to recent reports by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the situation is dire, and urgent action is required to protect the innocent lives caught in the crossfire.

UNICEF said that the crisis has left a staggering 13.6 million children in need of humanitarian assistance, with 1.7 million children displaced from their homes.

The organization also said that 2,500 children have lost their lives or been injured during the conflict, with millions more at risk of enduring severe rights violations.

The situation poses additional threats to the health and well-being of children, as 1.7 million under-one children are at risk of missing out on critical vaccinations.

Amidst the turmoil, UNICEF said that 690,000 children are currently battling malnutrition, and might not survive without treatment.

Furthermore, the ongoing conflict is jeopardizing the education of an entire generation of children.

UNICEF said it remains steadfast in its commitment to support children on the ground. Their teams are working to provide life-saving health services, access to clean water, nutrition assistance, and much-needed mental health support to help children cope with the traumas they have experienced.
