Suspect In Death Of OFW Marjorette Garcia Arrested In Saudi Arabia

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed the arrest of the suspect allegedly involved in the tragic death of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Marjorette Garcia in Saudi Arabia.
According to DFA Assistant Secretary Paul Cortes, the suspect, who is of a different nationality, was apprehended by Saudi Arabian authorities and is currently under investigation.
The news of the arrest has brought some relief to Marjorette Garcia's grieving family, who have been anxiously waiting for justice to be served.
DFA officials have assured the family that once the investigation concludes, the necessary documentation will be processed, allowing Marjorette's remains to be repatriated to the Philippines.
When asked about the DFA's communication with the victim's family, Assistant Secretary Cortes stated, "Yes, in fact, the Department of Foreign Affairs, along with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Al Khobar, has been in contact with the family and the employment agency. They are working closely with law enforcement agencies in Riyadh to ensure that the perpetrator faces prosecution, and justice is served."
Regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victim, Assistant Secretary Cortes clarified, "The suspect is not the victim's employer, and as far as we know, they are acquaintances. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and we are waiting for further details to be revealed."
