The lifeless body of 40-year-old Robert Card of Bowdoin was discovered in Lisbon, Maine, bringing an end to the threat that had gripped the community.
The Lewiston Police Department and the Maine State Police expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support received from local, state, and federal law enforcement partners throughout the past few days.
Maine Governor Janet Mills, visibly relieved, stated, "I'm breathing a sigh of relief tonight," following the confirmation that the suspect responsible for the devastating Lewiston mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 18 innocent individuals, had been found dead. The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"Robert Card is no longer a threat to anyone," the governor affirmed, as the community comes to terms with the tragic events and the hopeful prospect of healing.
