Mark Sheehan, lead guitarist and co-founder of the Irish rock band The Script, has passed away. He was 46.

The Script announced the news on their social media platforms on Saturday, April 15.

"Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time," the band posted.

As one-third of the popular rock band "The Script," Mark Sheehan was known for his incredible talent as a guitarist and songwriter, as well as his warm and charismatic personality.

He had a devoted fan following around the world and was cherished by many for his music and his genuine connection with his audience.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Sheehan's passion for music was evident from a young age.

He formed "The Script" in 2001 with his childhood friend, Danny O'Donoghue, and drummer Glen Power, and they went on to achieve international success with hit songs like "Breakeven," "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," and "Hall of Fame." Sheehan's songwriting prowess and emotive performances were instrumental in the band's success, and he was deeply loved by his bandmates and fans alike.
