Barangay Ginebra continues its impressive run in the 2023 PBA Philippine Cup despite facing injury concerns, as the team notched their third consecutive victory with a commanding 109-89 win over Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Christian Standhardinger, who has been shouldering the load for the Gin Kings in the absence of Japeth Aguilar, had another near triple-double performance with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. He was ably supported by Justin Brownlee, who contributed 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Ginebra's bench also played a crucial role in securing the win, with Von Pessumal scoring 14 points, including four three-pointers. Jamie Malonzo and Scottie Thompson added 14 and 16 points, respectively.

The Gin Kings pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Fuel Masters 31-9 to take a commanding 59-30 lead at halftime. Phoenix tried to mount a comeback in the second half, but Ginebra's lead proved too much to overcome.

With the victory, Ginebra improved their win-loss record to 6-2, putting them on the cusp of a guaranteed top-four finish in the elimination round.

Phoenix, on the other hand, suffered their sixth defeat of the season, dropping to a 4-6 record. Despite the loss, they remain in the hunt for a quarterfinals spot, as they still hold a comfortable lead over Rain or Shine, Terrafirma, and NorthPort.

Ginebra head coach Tim Cone expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, especially with the contribution of his bench players.

"As much as our guys are playing well, they need help from the bench. And our guys coming off the bench played well, they're awesome tonight," said Cone.

Ginebra will look to extend their winning streak when they face the Converge FiberXers on Sunday, March 5, at the PhilSports Arena.
