The Philippine News Agency is reporting that three people have been arrested in the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and led to the death of five others. The report said it was relayed to the PNA by Cpl. Rodel Pantoja of the Bayawan City Police Station.

Advocates Philippines will not mention the names of the PNA report as we could not independently verify the information.

Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called the gun attack in Degamo’s home while distributing cash aid to constituents as a "dastardly and heinous crime."

He promised that his government would not rest until the perpetrators of the crime were brought to justice. "The investigation into this murder is developing rapidly," Marcos wrote. "We have received much information and now have a clear direction on how to proceed to bring to justice those behind this killing."

Marcos also issued a warning to those involved in the killing, stating that they "can run but cannot hide" and that his government would find them. He urged them to surrender, saying that it would be their best option
