In a disappointing start for the TnT Tropang Giga, the home club Utsunomiya Brex of Japan claimed a dominant victory in the Group B opening contest of the East Asia Super League (EASL) Champions Week on Wednesday night at the Nikkan Arena.

The Japanese team was led by their dominant imports, Grant Jerrett and Josh Scott, who outscored the entire visiting team in a game-changing 32-8 second quarter run. With the active home supporters constantly chanting and clapping, the Utsunomiya Brex continued to dominate and finished the game with a decisive 99-66 win.

Scott was the top scorer for the Brex, finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Jerrett produced 20 points and 13 rebounds. Sweet shooting Yusuke Endo also contributed 17 markers in the opening win.

Despite Jalen Hudson's impressive performance for TnT with 28 points, the rest of the team struggled to keep up, with only Daniel Ochefu coming closest to double digits at nine points.
The defeat puts TnT in a difficult position in the race for regional glory and the $250,000 champion's purse. The team will have to bounce back quickly as they face Seoul SK Knights on Friday.

It was a disappointing start for Jojo Lastimosa's charges, but they will be hoping to turn things around in their upcoming matches. For the Utsunomiya Brex, it was a great start to their campaign as they look to defend their title and clinch another championship in the EASL Champions Week.
