The Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Toboso, Negros Occidental, passed SB Resolution No. 146, series of 2023, declaring Amadeus Fernando Pagente, popularly known as "Pura Luka Vega," as "Persona Non Grata."

Pura Luka Vega gained nationwide attention after a video of their mesmerizing rock rendition of "Ama Namin" or the Lord's Prayer went viral on social media. The drag queen's performance, which combined elements of drag artistry with rock music, received both acclaim and criticism from various sectors.

The decision to label Pura Luka Vega as "Persona Non Grata" has sparked debates within the community. Supporters of Vega argue that the performance was a powerful artistic expression that should be celebrated, promoting diversity and freedom of expression. On the other hand, some members of the conservative community perceive the performance as disrespectful to religious sentiments.

The SB members who supported the resolution cited concerns over the potential impact of such performances on local traditions and religious beliefs. They expressed the need to uphold the municipality's cultural values and preserve the respect for religious practices.

The declaration of "Persona Non Grata" status means that Pura Luka Vega is no longer welcome to perform within the Municipality of Toboso, and local establishments are encouraged not to host any events or appearances involving the drag queen. General Santos City was the first to declare the drag queen as persona non grata.
