The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has given the green light for a toll rate adjustment on the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), which will take effect on October 17, 2023. The adjustment authorizes an additional ₱0.64 per kilometer.
This rate alteration is part of the scheduled SCTEX periodic adjustments for 2021 and 2023 and has undergone rigorous regulatory scrutiny by the TRB.
In a collaborative effort to lessen the impact on expressway users, TRB and SCTEX have decided to implement these adjustments in three phases, with this being the initial tranche.
Under the revised toll fee matrix, travelers with Class 1 vehicles journeying from Mabalacat City to Tarlac will incur an extra charge of ₱25. For Class 2 vehicles on the same route, the additional fee will be ₱50, and Class 3 vehicles will face an additional ₱75. Meanwhile, those using Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles traveling between Mabalacat City and Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport) will experience additional charges of ₱40, ₱81, and ₱121, respectively.
For those making the entire SCTEX trip from Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport) to Tarlac, the additional charges will be ₱65 for Class 1, ₱131 for Class 2, and ₱196 for Class 3.
Although the new rates received approval in August of this year, SCTEX opted to postpone their implementation until October, citing inflationary concerns.
Over the past two years, SCTEX has undertaken a series of infrastructure and enhancement projects aimed at enhancing safety and convenience for motorists on the expressway. These projects include roadway light and signage upgrades, maintenance and toll plaza improvements, pavement replacements, RFID system enhancements, toll systems upgrades, and the repair of various bridges, including the Dinalupihan road raising project and the Porac Gumain, San Matias, and Pasig Potrero bridges.
