The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu has confirmed another heartbreaking casualty in the wake of the devastating fires that have ravaged Maui.

Salvador Coloma, a 77-year-old Filipino citizen, has been tragically identified as a victim of the merciless flames. This news comes as a profound blow to the tight-knit Filipino community and the Consulate, which has been tirelessly working to offer solace and assistance to affected families.

Salvador Coloma's name joins a growing list of fallen compatriots, including Alfredo Galinato and Rodolfo Racunan, whose lives were claimed by the unrelenting wildfires.

The Consulate's officials have been unswervingly dedicated to reaching out to the families of these individuals, extending their deepest condolences, and providing the necessary support during this trying time.

The Consulate has also been actively verifying the nationality of other reported casualties, underscoring their commitment to ensuring accurate information dissemination. However, some names, such as Conchita Sagudang and Danilo Sagudang, both hailing from Abra province, yielded negative results upon cross-referencing with official records.

Similar results were obtained for Antonia Molina and Carlo Tobias, despite online information suggesting ties to the Philippines.

In a plea to the affected families, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) urges relatives of those impacted to get in touch with the Consulate through the dedicated hotline number: +1808 253-9446.

This outreach serves a dual purpose – not only to validate the Consulate's records of casualties and distressed Filipinos, but also to ensure that essential assistance reaches those in need.

As the distressing situation continues to unfold, the Philippine Government remains resolute in its commitment to standing by the victims and their bereaved families. The extensive support being offered reflects the nation's deep sympathy for all those affected by the wildfires.

The government pledges to persist in providing aid to the next of kin of Filipino nationals who have been impacted by this heartrending tragedy.
