In a rapid response to the recent statement by LTFRB Chair Guadiz, the transport sector has strongly condemned what they perceive as an attempt to deceive the public.

According to them, franchise consolidation is synonymous with phaseout, a move that threatens the livelihoods of individual franchise holders by transferring control to large transport corporations capable of complying with government schemes.
The transport groups argue that franchise consolidation turns the simple livelihoods of ordinary Filipinos into lucrative businesses for a select few.

They emphasize that the issue extends beyond vehicle phaseouts to a broader threat against the livelihoods of countless individuals, particularly during a time of escalating crises and hunger in the country.

The government's push for franchise consolidation and the looming deadlines associated with it have sparked outrage within the transport sector, leading to ongoing strikes until their concerns are addressed.

The No to PUV Phaseout Coalition, in a Facebook post, revealed that major routes in the NCR experienced an 85% paralysis as of 9:30 in the morning (November 20,2023).

The transport groups are determined to continue their protest at Monumento Circle. Authorities have reportedly attempted to disperse the gathering, threatening eviction if the protest persists beyond 15 minutes. Undeterred, the transport sector asserts their right to voice concerns over what they see as a systematic attack on their livelihoods.
