In a recent update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm GORING has intensified as it continues its northwestward journey over the Philippine Sea, situated east of Basco, Batanes.

As of 4:00 PM local time, the storm's center was estimated to be approximately 265 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, positioned at coordinates 20.3°N, 124.5°E. GORING has exhibited maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near its center, accompanied by gusts of up to 90 km/h. The central pressure within the storm system has been recorded at 1000 hPa.

Currently moving at a speed of 10 km/h in a northwestward direction, GORING has triggered the extension of strong to gale-force winds spanning up to 170 km from its center. Despite these prevailing conditions, no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) have been raised at this moment.

While heavy rainfall is not an immediate concern over the next three days, Tropical Storm GORING's proximity to land raises the potential for weather fluctuations. Should the storm's projected trajectory shift westward, certain areas within the Cagayan Valley could experience heavy rainfall within the next three days. As a precautionary measure, both the public and disaster response teams are advised to remain vigilant and stay tuned for further updates.

Moreover, meteorological experts have indicated the likelihood of the Southwest Monsoon being influenced by Tropical Storm GORING, starting either late Saturday or Sunday. This influence could bring intermittent rains to the western portions of Luzon. Authorities are contemplating the issuance of a Weather Advisory concerning the Southwest Monsoon, should conditions warrant.
As the situation evolves, PAGASA will continue to closely monitor the storm's progress and provide necessary updates to ensure the safety and preparedness of communities that might be affected.
