Typhoon 'JENNY' Maintains Strength, Heads Towards Taiwan

Typhoon "JENNY" continues to strengthen as it progresses north-northwestward over the Philippine Sea. The latest data released by the PAGASA places the eye of Typhoon JENNY approximately 325 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

The typhoon maintains its maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 190 kilometers per hour.

As of 4:00 PM today, Typhoon JENNY is moving north-northwestward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. The extent of tropical cyclone winds is substantial, extending outward up to 560 kilometers from the storm's center, impacting a wide area.

PAGASA has issued Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) in effect for various regions. TCWS No. 2 warns of gale-force winds with wind speeds ranging from 62 to 88 kilometers per hour (Beaufort 8 to 9). This signal is in effect with a 24-hour warning lead time and is expected to bring minor to moderate threats to life and property in Batanes.

Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1 indicates strong winds with wind speeds ranging from 39 to 61 kilometers per hour (Beaufort 6 to 7). This signal is in effect with a 36-hour warning lead time and poses minimal to minor threats to life and property in several areas including Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, and Ilocos Norte.

PAGASA predicts that Typhoon JENNY will continue moving northwestward or west-northwestward until tomorrow before turning westward.

Based on the track forecast, the typhoon is anticipated to make landfall over the southern portion of Taiwan, either late tomorrow evening or Thursday morning, before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Thursday morning and afternoon.
