U.S. 7th Fleet Commander And JMSDF Self Defense Fleet Commander In Chief Foster Cooperation During Visit To PH Navy Chief

In a display of naval diplomacy and collaborative spirit, Vice Admiral Karl Thomas, Commander of the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet, and Vice Admiral Akira Saito, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Self Defense Fleet Commander in Chief, visited the Philippine Navy headquarters in Manila. The visit aimed to bolster mutual cooperation and strengthen ties among the naval forces of the United States, Japan, and the Philippines.
Accompanied by Rear Admiral Renato David, Commander of the Philippine Fleet, the two visiting Fleet Commanders were warmly received by Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., Chief of the Philippine Navy. The discussions during the courtesy call centered on collaborative opportunities that could enhance naval capabilities, foster training initiatives, and facilitate the exchange of subject matter expertise.
Vice Admiral Saito expressed his appreciation for the chance to visit the Philippines and underlined the importance of regular interactions among the three naval leaders. "I look forward to continuing these tripartite meetings in the future," he stated, emphasizing the value of sustained dialogue for enhancing maritime security in the region.
Vice Admiral Thomas highlighted the significance of joint planning and preparation. "Coming together in this manner allows us to strategize and lay the groundwork for future collaborations," he remarked, affirming the benefits of coordinated efforts among the partner navies.
Vice Admiral Adaci conveyed his gratitude for the presence of the U.S. and Japanese naval representatives and reiterated the Philippine Navy's commitment to collaborative endeavors. He underscored the significance of working alongside allied forces to achieve cooperation, interoperability, and robust multilateral relations.
