In an official statement released today December 16,2023, Vice President Sara Duterte announced her assumption of caretaker duties as President Marcos embarks on an official travel abroad from December 15 to 18. During this period, VP Duterte will preside as the Chairperson of the Executive Committee meetings, ensuring the smooth continuation of governance in Davao City.

To fulfill her responsibilities, Vice President Duterte will establish her office at the DepEd NEAP Davao and the OVP Davao Satellite office. This move reflects her commitment to maintaining government operations and addressing crucial matters in the absence of President Marcos.
